Last Minute Holiday Business Promotions and Marketing Ideas

The New Year is upon us, and guess what? It’s not too late to snag some attention from consumers. In fact, the winter holidays, and the days surrounding the New Year, are some of the biggest spending days of the year for consumers. The reason? It all boils down to present giving traditions and taking advantage of huge sales! If you haven’t run a holiday promotion, it’s not too late. Here are some ideas for some last minute ways you can market to your potential customers.

Host A Killer New Year’s Sale

No matter where you sale your products and services, be it on the internet or in a store, now is a great time to host and promote a last minute sale. To advertise your New Year’s sale, draw massive attention to the amounts of money people will save. Consider posting signage of exactly what percentage people will save around your store. Here is a great example of what amazon is doing to draw attention to their sales.

If you host your business primarily online, change your ad copy to reflect your holiday sale. Now is the perfect time to bid higher for your target keywords, and really compete for those first page paid search listings. It may be more expensive to up your paid search budget, but it can result in a huge increase in sales.

Offer Free Shipping

One of the easiest ways to encourage consumers to buy during the New Year is to offer free shipping. It’s amazing what consumers will buy when they don’t have to pay for shipping. Try it.

Shower Your Social Media with New Year Love

Another great way to capture attention of your consumers during the New Year is to jump on the social media bandwagon. For example, everyone is making New Year’s resolutions, so offer some tips on how to make resolutions. You can post fun images on Facebook or Pinterest. You can write a helpful post about New Year’s resolutions on LinkedIn. Additionally, you can tweet efficiently. All of the following hashtags are currently trending on Twitter:

  • #Midnight
  • #bestmemoriesof2014
  • New Year’s Eve
  • Happy New Year

Use those hashtags to your advantage. You may even get a new follower, or a new customer, out of it.

Write New Year’s Blog Content

If you have a following on your business blog, now is a great time to write a last minute blog post offering some tips about the New Year. People love to make resolutions, but often lack guidance on how to efficiently make and keep resolutions. As you position yourself as a resolution expert, you can offer advice that will appeal to, and help your customers. The more helpful you are to your target audience, the more prone they will be to continue reading your blog, and hopefully end up as a customer.

Send a Happy New Year Greeting to your Clients

It’s not to late to either send a card or an e-mail wishing your clients a happy New Year. Your care and attention can go a long way. Additionally, remember your clients like the work you do. As you wish them a Happy New Year, consider also letting them know about any last minute promotions you are running.

These are just some ideas to help you capture some attention from your customers during the New Year. And, remember the team at Shield Funding wishes you a happy and prosperous New Year. We look forward to working with you in 2015.
