Marketing does not always have to cost an arm and a leg, and take up a large portion of your budget. Sometimes, all it costs is a little bit of your time and creativity to reach your target market. If you’re looking to improve your business’s online profile, but don’t have a massive (or any) marketing budget to pour into advertising efforts, don’t worry, there are plenty of free ways to get more exposure. Here are just a few ways to help you start.
Become a social media ninja. Social media isn’t just a great way to connect with your current customers. Using social media is also a great way to find new customers, especially if you use promotions that encourage your customers to share your business with their friends and families. This is a prime way to improve traffic across your social media pages and your website. Remember to research the social media platforms that best fit your target audience, and to create a profile for every social media outlet that applies to your business.
Start a podcast. Are you an authority on something? Do you have lots to say about your industry? Then you might consider starting a podcast. This is a great way to build authority in your industry and it costs nothing to start. There are lots of places you can list it for free and if you share it through your email list and social media pages, you’re sure to get plenty of attention through a podcast.
Start a blog. If you haven’t started a blog, now is the time. It may take some time for your blog to gain enough followers to really have an impact, but a blog is the best way to build clout in your industry. You become a contributing member of the discussion and you start answering the questions that your customers have when they go online to search for information—making your website the website of choice.
Viral images. We’re not just talking about memes here—though if you can generate funny, relevant memes for your social media pages, that’s never a bad thing. If you’re a denizen of Pinterest, you have probably seen the quotes that lay over pictures or the “Keep Calm and (Blank)” images. These types of images are a great way to spread the word. Another way to reach your target market is to create helpful infographics. These Infographics can be free to make and are extremely shareable, not just on Pinterest, but across all social media. If you can brand them with your URL, even as they are passed from user to user, they’ll continue to bring people back to your website. Sharing relevant images really is a great way to increase traffic to your website.
